Testimonials

''We are thrilled with the new playground, the children love it and it does make the teachers' work easier as the set up is so accessible and easy to maintain.

The climbing frame works really well, the children use both the upper and lower level, which is a home corner at the moment. As we are outdoors in all weathers the climbing frame not only offers shelter but it's an exciting and relaxing place to be in. The design enables the children to lead and initiate different games in different areas rather than just run around dangerously.''

JOANNA, EY LEADER, COPENHAGEN PRIMARY, 2014

AMANDA DAOUD, SCHOOL BUSINESS MANAGER, LARKSWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL 2013

"I was delighted to find and choose Theories Playscapes Ltd to work with in order to develop a whole playground solution for our school. Theories stood out easily from their competitors in terms of creative play design experience and project management expertise, offering a comprehensive bespoke design and build package that saw the project through from the very first meeting to last bolt tightening, all the while consulting and liaising effectively.

Theories helped us comprehensively and imaginatively re-think the whole of the outdoor play spaces, dealing with both the physical environment as well as management issues we were experiencing, such as some challenging lunch time behaviour. We have found playtime behaviour greatly improved since so many new activities and play features were introduced and the tarmac expanse broken up into smaller and more attractive and intimate play areas with different inherent characteristics and purposes. The children in Smithy Street primary have repeatedly commented on their delight with their new play environment.

We continue to work with Theories to tweak and develop new play solutions as they are required."

SUE CLARIDGE FACILITIES MANAGER PLUMCROFT PRIMARY SCHOOL 2011

"Theories designed and built a playground for us that has proved to be the huge success we hoped it would. Working with Theories was very much a two way partnership and they worked with the children to design an imaginative and innovative playground that we had no idea we could achieve. The children love it and our biggest problem has been trying to get them to go home at the end of the day.

It has enhanced playtimes and has a much better play value than traditional solutions. It has also changed and improved the children's play culture. Theories were a joy to work with, always professional and helpful (even when we wanted to add things) and we really did miss them when they had finished. If finances had allowed we would have kept them here to work on our other playgrounds."

NICK JACKSON-PLAY DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, THE LEARNING TRUST 2011

"Theories Landscapes Ltd successfully engaged the local community on the Bannister and Wenlock Estates in Hackney through play events and meetings before creating imaginative and attractive play solutions that integrated play with landscaping, as well as the landscaping with play.

Not only did the designs look good to those living nearby, but they also provided much needed active play opportunities for the local children as well as a place to meet mates, all within a comfortable, exciting and safe context.

The schemes were expertly and robustly constructed, and most importantly on  time, and on budget, and continue to be an essential focal feature within the community landscape today."

FELICITY ROBINSON - CAMDEN PATHFINDER POLICY AND PROJECT SUPERVISION PANEL 2011

"As a Landscape Architect who focuses on children’s engagement in making changes to their own outdoor play and learning environment, I am happy to work with Theories because their bespoke approach to design and build has the advantage that children's innovative ideas can be reflected more effectively in the physical realisation of a project. Their construction team also brings additional innovation and new ideas during the implementation phase, responding cost effectively to site and needs rather than simply installing "off the peg" products. In this way children can really see where they have influenced the successful finished scheme, and can be proud of their achievement."

TIM WALLDER-IGC PLAY DIRECTOR, JUNE 2011

”Theories have been essential in helping us realise our plan for a new and innovative adventure playground. It has proved highly successful and popular with the local children and staff alike.  The play environment designed by Theories is supporting creative play activities in many different and varied ways.”

KAREN NEWELL - PARENT/MEMBER OF FRIENDS OF CRABTREE , JUNE 2011

"Crabtree fields offers a small oasis of calm in London's busy west end. It maybe small but with its winding path and maze like fence encompassing an expansive sandpit it offers a rich mix of play. We have to make it a pit stop every night before tea. "0ne last swing one last slide one one last sand castle."

BECKY WHITER - SENIOR EARLY YEAR'S PRACTITIONER, HAREFIELD CHILDREN CENTRE, JUNE 2011

"Our fantastic new play area has given the Children' Centre the opportunity to open it up for families to freely explore, be creative and imaginative when using the play space. Through the design of the play area the children are using their imagination to create jungles, pretending to be by the seaside and being builders in the sand pit. The children have developed a lovely gardening area with a variety of fruit and vegetables growing. All the children and parents enjoy looking at the lovely plants and shrubs and going on bug hunts to see what they can find. The children are developing their physical skills through the different climbing and balancing equipment which has been provided.

The childcare team can plan more exciting activities for children to take part in. The play area has given the setting the opportunity to develop and enhance the children's outdoor learning in a more exciting and adventurous way. It has shown parents/carers the importance of these experiences without having your traditional play space. It's a safe and friendly environment in which families enjoy coming to on a daily basis.

Parents have commented on how lovely the outside area is and their child/ren love coming to play outside. It has given some of our parents/carers and children the opportunity to play outside, as they don't have this chance at home.

The Children's Centre are extremely pleased with the design and layout of the play area, which was carried by the friendly design. Harefield Children's Centre would recommend Theories in the future."

RUSSELL BLABER - MERTON PROJECT MANAGER, MAY 2011

"Theories Landscapes provided and extremely flexible approach to this project, and developed a very imaginative solution for the new IGC adventure playground. Most importantly, liaison with ourselves and the end user was first class, ensuring that the brief was correctly adhered to. The quality of the end result is demonstrated by the extensive use the facilities are already receiving."

“It has been a pleasure working with Theories, spanning a decade now, who have designed and built three extraordinary play spaces for Phoenix’s children with special educational needs (SEN) including autistic spectrum.

Theories have consistently been able to listen to our staff’s wishes as well as the needs of individual children and go onto to create unique, challenging  and interesting play environments where every nook and cranny counts and where every child can explore their own varied play needs safely and happily.

Theories are a one-stop professional playground solution, seamlessly integrating everything aspect from helping formulate a design brief, producing design proposals and budgets, to carrying out the build contract with their own skilled staff, and finally offering on-going maintenance support. ”
